Dr. Alok Tripathi,IPS

Dr. Alok Tripathi is among the most prominent police administrators in Rajasthan. Few can match his professional caliber, integrity and dedication to policing and administration. He is a decorated IPS officer of the 1986 batch, Rajasthan Cadre. After Completing MBBS in 1984, he joined the IPS in 1986.

During his initial posting as ASP, Sriganganagar, he was closely associated with counter-terrorism operations. His active contribution in successful handling of many such operations won him the accolades of his colleagues and superiors alike. He subsequently worked as Superintendent of Police (SP) in nine districts of Rajasthan, gaining wide range experience in almost all aspects of policing and internal security.

During his posting as Dy. Inspector General of Police (DIG) Range, Udaipur during 2002-03, Dr. Tripathi’s experience as a seasoned police officer was instrumental in ensuring communal harmony and peace in these regions. He worked as IG Police in various branches such as Police Telecommunication, Planning and Welfare, Crime Branch, Vigilance, Intelligence, ATS & SOG and Intelligence. Subsequently, he worked as ADGP, RAC, Anti-Terrorist Squad and Special Operations Group and Anti-Corruption Bureau. During his tenure as Director General of Police, Anti-Corruption Bureau, (ACB), Rajasthan received second all India ranking in counteracting corruption.

Dr. Tripathi also participated in some prestigious training programs including the ATA 11437/Police Chief's Conference/Counter-Terrorism Co-operation Conference/Advances of Latest Techniques in Forensic Investigation, etc. He also participated in the Senior Crisis Management Seminar of the Homeland Security Department, Washington D.C., USA in January 2016. Dr. Tripathi also represented Indian delegation under leadership of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) to curb trans-border smuggling of drugs during dialogue with Pakistan. He was invited as Resource Person to share his expertise with the Election Commission of India during 2013-14 for Election Expenditure Monitoring.

For his commendable dedication and commitment to duty, Dr. Alok Tripathi was awarded the Indian Police Medal for Meritorious Service in 2002 and the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Services in 2012. After his superannuation, Dr. Tripathi is currently serving as Vice-Chancellor, Sardar Patel University of Police, Security and Criminal Justice, Jodhpur since 14th of October 2020. As a dynamic leader, he inspires many minds. His vision for the University is to focus on research and capacity building of law enforcement agencies.
